Prayer

  • Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. -Rom 12:12

It’s easy to fall into the thinking that those who really impact the community, are the ones who spend time with the kids, helping them to be successful at school, asking them questions about their lives, and encouraging them to make good choices and turn to Jesus; or the ones who give donations; or maybe the ones who live in the community; or the ones who teach. When we think about praying for the community, the kids, families, and Solidarity staff, we may put a “just” before our prayer. “I just pray for Solidarity.” The truth is prayer is a vital part of what Solidarity is seeking to do.

Prayer not only brings us into a deeper intimacy with Jesus, God works through our prayers, and much of what is faced in the communities and relationships Solidarity is a part of, will never be resolved through programs or mentoring, it’s root is deeply spiritual and needs to be dealt with in prayer. Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:12  “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” If our struggles are spiritual then we must face them in prayer. And even in the dreariest of situations we can take heart, knowing that Jesus Christ has overcome the world (John 16:33). He is always victorious.

With this in mind, if you are a faithful volunteer, monthly donor, or just learning about Solidarity for the first time, please consider partnering with us in prayer.
