Volunteering

  • At Solidarity we do not use the term “programs.”  It is not that we have an indifference to the actual word, but we do feel our programs are more than a place to accomplish a goal.  Instead, our programs are actually called CFRs, or Context For Relationship.  Each CFR is designed for more than just homework tutoring, community empowerment, or gang intervention/prevention.  The program is intentionally created to make space and set an environment for transformational relationships to occur.  So working in the After School Program or Teen Center is really just the CONTEXT by which our volunteers can enter into new RELATIONSHIPS.  And it’s through these RELATIONSHIPS that we feel our volunteers have an opportunity to grow deeper in their intimacy with Jesus.
