Education: Bachelors in Human Services from Hope International University Hometown: Petaluma Family: Mom - Phyllis, Dad - Brace, Sister - Ryan, Brother in law - Mark, Greatest Niece Ever - Leila, toughest neohew this side of the Mississippi-Eli Hobbies: Rock Climbing, Traveling, a quasi Tri-athlete, reading Job Title: Volunteer Staff Coordinator How did you come to Solidarity? My friends and I started up a small group at Hope International in 2002 that looked to live out our idea of Christianity in a much more tangible and loving manner. We were a bunch of wide-eye, idealistic, college students that waned to do something. Eventually that small group turned into what Solidarity is today. What is your role at Solidarity? The Volunteer Staff Coordinator. My job is to help staff each individual program at Solidarity as well as work with our friend Jason and all of our partner churches in developing formational aspects for our Volunteers. Really my role is all about creating an environment where a volunteer can experience God's Kingdom in such a way that when he/she leaves Solidarity they are better equipped and more aware of how to participate in what God is doing and His life giving presence in their lives. I also am on the Board of Directors, run the Mentoring program, and sit in with the Lifestyle committee. What is the best part of your role? I actually get to live out what I feel God is molding me into. After college there is always this freak out point where one asks themselves "what am I doing with my life." Solidarity has helped me discover the way I am to live my life and after having so many "lost" feelings it's nice to know that I'm heading in a direction. Fun Stuff: What is your favorite movie? I'm not too sure what my favorite is. I really love anything written by Charlie Kaufman. I love directors who start off making music videos and eventually go into full length movies like Spike Jonez and Michael Gondry. What reality TV show would you be on and why? I actually applied for wipeout, but they have not called me back. So sad... but maybe one day you'll see me getting pummelled by some huge red balls. My friend Kristen and I also said that we'd be on Amazing Race someday. I also wished that I was celebrity jeopardy on SNL so that I could see Sean Connery make fun of Alex Trebeck the whole show. Favorite place you have been and why? San Sebastian, Spain/Prague, Checz Republic/ Lhasa, Tibet/Sidney, Australia/San Francisco, California Where is the next place you would like to go? I still haven't been to South America so I'd probably say I'd go visit Tim in Brazil and then swing by Chile. What makes you laugh/cry? The last time I laughed really hard was at my buddy, Jeff's, bachelor party. There was just a bit too much male bonding going on there. Also, Erin Pi Pi makes me laugh...she is a funny girl. The last time I cried... um do we really have to share that with the whole internet world. Ha. Plus I don't cry I just get things stuck in my eye... often... and during really touching moments in sappy movies. |
