I graduated from Hope International University in 2006 with a B.A. in Intercultural Studies.  I have a wonderful family made up of my parents, two sisters, two brother-in-laws, and two adorable nephews.  I am originally from the hot desert of Arizona and currently live in the Girls’ Solid House in the Garnet neighborhood with three amazing women who are also part of the Solidarity community.

When I was in college, Bethany Anderson and another friend who had been volunteering with Solidarity told me about the great things that were going on in this neighborhood and so I decided to check it out.  I started volunteering with the After School Program in October, 2005 and fell in love with the community.  I work as the After School Program Director and Solid House Girls Director in the Garnet neighborhood.

What is your favorite TV show? Ooohh…tough call.  I love me some “Friday Night Lights” and “The Office”.  I have to admit my guilty pleasure is “The Bachelor,” but I really see that as more of community building opportunity than anything else. ;)

What has Solidarity helped you discover about yourself? Solidarity has helped me to discover how much I need Jesus and how much I need to share the love, joy, peace, grace, and freedom of Jesus with others.  I’m humbled by my own brokenness and dependency on God, and at the same time I’m so grateful that God wants me to be a part of His story of transformation in other people’s lives.

Describe Solidarity as “church”: A community of jacked-up people who are being transformed as they learn to live and love as Christ intended.

If Solidarity were a mode of transportation, what would it be? A run-down car – for obvious reasons.  We’ve been wrecked and needed a lot of maintenance, but it just adds character.
